Beyer Speed Figures ("Beyers") give a single numerical value to a horse's performance based upon the final time and the relative speed of the track. The higher the number, the better the performance. A good stakes winning horse should run Beyers around 100, champions will be in the 110-120 range. Anything over 120 is a tremendous performance.
also next time out keep waltz away for the note book and remember to back. it had done a 76. any horse improves 3 or maybe more lengths from one run to another. tough luck the jockey on the horse fell off. emerald got its long over due victory. but if you do the numbers i am reasonably sure it has not done more than 83-84. please check and let me know what it did for my academic interest. and then we can keep that in mind and check what waltz away does when it runs next time out. that way we will know hypthtically if waltz away would have won if the jockey did not fall off. rb.
let me correct my third statement to "any horse improves 3 or maybe more lengths from one run to another, after its first lifetime run, as a right hand thumb rule." rb.
